Geneva to Megève Taxi — Chic Haute-Savoie Village Transfer
A Geneva to Megève taxi reaches this iconic Savoyard village from Geneva Airport (GVA) or central Geneva in 1 h 20 to 1 h 30, covering 90 km. The route combines the A40 motorway via Annemasse, Bonneville and Sallanches, then a 15 km mountain road from Sallanches up to the village at 1 113 m. Megève stands apart from industrial-scale resorts by its preserved village identity: no buildings above three floors, wooden chalet architecture, pedestrian main street with horse-drawn carriages, and a history tied to the Rothschild family, who made Megève one of France’s first winter resorts in the 1920s.
Whether you’re staying at the Four Seasons Hotel Megève, the Chalet du Mont d’Arbois (Rothschild), Flocons de Sel (3-Michelin-star, Emmanuel Renaut) or a private chalet on the slopes above the village, TaxiGVA operates this transfer year-round with smooth French–Swiss border handling and mountain-ready Mercedes vehicles.

Megève: the Rothschild village and French ski chic
Megève was conceived in the 1920s as a French alternative to St Moritz. Baroness Noémie de Rothschild commissioned the Mont d’Arbois Palace Hotel in 1921 and laid out the first integrated golf-and-ski estate. That lineage shapes Megève’s identity to this day: human scale (10 000 permanent residents, 40 000 at winter peak), wooden chalet dominance, strict rules against modern high-rises, and long-standing French and European family clientele (Rothschild, Kenzo, Guerlain) spanning generations.
The Évasion Mont-Blanc ski area (445 km of linked pistes shared with Saint-Gervais, Les Contamines and Combloux) offers serious kilometres, though less technically extreme terrain than Chamonix. Megève leans harder on art-de-vivre: the pedestrian Rue du Général Muffat with Brunello Cucinelli, Hermès and Vuitton boutiques, horse-drawn carriages, and a dense gastronomic scene — Flocons de Sel (3 Michelin stars), La Table de l’Alpaga, Le Chamois. Signature events: the Jumping International de Megève (show jumping, July), the Megève Winter Golf Cup (golf-on-snow, February), and the late-July international Jazz Festival.

Geneva Airport (GVA) → Megève
GVA is 85 km from Megève, about 1 h 20 by direct taxi — one of the closest French ski resorts after Chamonix. Your driver meets you in arrivals, tracks the flight live, and handles the Bardonnex / Saint-Julien-en-Genevois border crossing with no stop. A 1 pm arrival puts you at the Four Seasons Megève or the Chalet Mont d’Arbois by about 2:45 pm.
For return flights, allow 3 h before a Schengen departure and 3 h 30 before a long-haul flight in winter (snow buffer + airport security margin).
Which Mercedes for Megève?
- Mercedes E-Class — fine for 1–2 passengers without skis or with a cabin-size set. Comfortable for the 1 h 30 drive — ideal for a dinner at Flocons de Sel or a summer golf appointment.
- Mercedes V-Class — the Megève standard. 7 seats, XXL trunk for 4–5 ski pairs + boots + large suitcases + child gear. The V-Class handles the Sallanches–Megève mountain road well.
- Mercedes S-Class VIP — for Four Seasons, Mont d’Arbois and Rothschild-house clientele: massage seats, privacy glass, full silence. Frequently requested by French corporate guests.
Megève through the year
December–March — peak ski season. Christmas / New Year is the absolute peak (Four Seasons, Chalet du Mont d’Arbois, Fer à Cheval, Alpaga booked out 6 months ahead). French school holidays in February are extremely busy (the three A, B, C zones rotate across four weeks). The Sallanches–Megève road is maintained, with rare 1–2 h closures during exceptional snow events.
January — Jumping International + Megève Winter Golf (golf-on-snow). Signature luxury-village atmosphere.
April–May — shoulder season. Many hotels close for 4–6 weeks. Gradual reopening by late May.
June–August — summer season. Mont d’Arbois golf course (18 holes, 1 300 m altitude, one of France’s highest), mountain biking, hiking. Jumping International in July, Jazz Festival in late July.
September–November — autumn shoulder. Good for hiking before the first snowfalls, but hotels are partially closed.

Train alternative: Geneva → Megève
Megève has no direct SNCF station. Rail access requires Geneva → Sallanches-Combloux-Megève (TER station) then local taxi / bus for the final 15 km climb.
- Duration: 2 h 30 to 3 h (Geneva → La Roche-sur-Foron → Sallanches, then local bus or taxi)
- Price: CHF 40–50 for the train + CHF 35–50 local taxi Sallanches → Megève = about CHF 85 total
- 4 passengers with skis: impractical (2 connections), roughly the same price as a TaxiGVA E-Class
- Drawbacks: rigid schedule, few trains before 7 am or after 9 pm, no direct GVA option
For Megève specifically, the private taxi is almost always the better choice — the price difference is offset by door-to-door service and the absence of connections.
