When the night taxi is the right call
Early-morning flights from GVA
Geneva Airport’s first wave of departures starts at 06:00. To clear security with buffer you need to be at the terminal by 05:00, which means a pickup between 04:15 and 04:45 depending on where you are staying. TPG buses do not run at that hour, the first CFF train leaves Cornavin at 05:02 and doesn’t help if your hotel is in Cologny or Champel. A pre-booked taxi is the only reliable option, and at our flat rate it costs no more than a daytime pickup.
Late arrivals after 23:00
Long-haul flights from Dubai, New York JFK or Doha often land in Geneva between 22:30 and 01:30. Baggage claim and passport control can push your terminal exit past midnight. Night taxi vs Uber at 03:00 in Geneva
Uber operates in Geneva, but supply drops sharply after 01:00. Expect surge pricing of 1.5× to 3× between 01:00 and 05:00, especially Friday and Saturday nights, New Year’s Eve, Montreux Jazz Festival weekends and when a major event at Palexpo ends. The published fare you see in the app often doubles once you request a car in those windows. On a 4 km airport ride, that is CHF 60 to CHF 90 with surge — close to our fixed CHF 100, without the Mercedes class, flight tracking, meet & greet or guaranteed pickup time.
The practical difference: with Uber you request a car and hope one accepts. With TaxiGVA you book in advance and get a confirmation email with the driver’s name and licence plate. For a 04:15 pickup to catch a 06:00 flight, that difference is the whole point.
How late-night booking works
- Book in advance — ideally at least 1 hour before pickup. For 04:00–06:00 airport runs, book the evening before. Use the online form, WhatsApp or call +41 22 518 08 08.
- Confirmation within 15 minutes — by email with the fixed price, pickup time, driver name and plate. If you book after 23:00 for same-night service, expect confirmation within 30 minutes via SMS.
- Driver contact — the driver sends a WhatsApp or SMS 10 minutes before pickup with his location.
- On arrival — at the airport he waits inside the terminal at the exit with a name sign. At a hotel or address he calls the number you provided.
- Payment — card, TWINT, Apple Pay or cash on board, or pre-paid at booking. Invoice by email with VAT.

Do you charge a night surcharge in Geneva?
No. TaxiGVA fixed prices are the same 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Street-taxi meters in Geneva add CHF 0.60/km between 21:00 and 06:00 — that surcharge does not apply to our pre-booked rides. A 04:30 pickup for a 06:00 flight costs exactly the same as a 14:00 airport run.
How early can I book a taxi for a morning flight from Geneva Airport?
As early as you like — we accept bookings up to 12 months in advance. For the standard 04:00–06:00 morning airport runs, we recommend confirming the night before at the latest. Same-night booking is possible up to 1 hour before pickup subject to availability, which gets tight from Thursday to Sunday.
Is there a minimum fare for a short night ride?
Yes — the Geneva city minimum is CHF 80 for any intra-canton trip, day or night. For a ride under 5 km a metered street taxi will usually be cheaper; our service starts making sense above 8 km or when you need a specific pickup time. If you want a guaranteed 03:30 pickup from a private address, flat rate and booking confirmation trump the CHF 15 saving on a meter.
Can I book a night taxi for someone else — a family member or a guest?
Yes, routinely. Provide the passenger’s name, pickup address, destination and phone number. We send the driver details by SMS or WhatsApp to the passenger, and the invoice goes to your email.
